  • In this Unit we will again focus on the subject of deliberations at WRC-12 on the recommendation to abolish the leap second which will be the focus of this program’s first teleconference. In fact, in the first part of the second teleconference I would like to focus on you playing different roles based on what you hear in this YouTube video of the WRC-12 meeting. One of you will be the chairman of the meeting, one will present the US position, one the UK position, one the Chinese position, etc.

You have hopefully already transcribed the final position statement of the US delegate, the UK delegate, and the first part of the summary by the president of the Assembly. In this unit I would like you to try the position of the Canadian delegate, the Chinese (?) delegate and also the part of the chairman/president’s proposal regarding the assembly’s action.
